Disease Risk for the Long Haul Trucker

long haul trucker

Scientists have linked diesel gasses to higher rates of lung cancer for workers in the railroad, construction, and trucking industries throughout the past ten years. According to new national research, workers in the trucking industry have a higher risk of lung cancer from being exposed frequently to a variety of 400 toxic chemicals from other vehicles on town roads, loading docks, and highways. This study gathered information from 31,135 worker records. Shockingly, short-haul drivers were found to have the highest rate of disease and deaths. The reason why long-haul truckers have a lower risk is because they usually tend to keep their windows shut while driving. In the opposite, short-haul truck drivers are exposed to the exhaust because they tend to leave their windows open.
