Restrictions for Long Haul Trucking Companies

The California Air Resources Board announced the most controlling truck rule ever to be approved in the nation's history for long haul trucking companies. Trucks in fleets of one to three trucks are required to have diesel particulate filters on 2004 or newer engine model trucks, no matter where they are base plated. This must be done by year 2014. 2007 emissions level model trucks are to have this finished by 2019. EPA's SmartWay program was also approved, which demands a combination of fairings, low-rolling resistance tires, or other devices that cut emissions by improving efficiency. Affairs specialist Joe Rajkovacz stated that this new statewide truck regulation will without question put many small businesses out of business.
